WCHS Valedictorian Selection Criteria

The Valedictorian & Salutatorian of a graduating class should exemplify the school motto of “Striving for Excellence”. As such, the following scoring criteria will be used to identify the Valedictorian & Salutatorian.

  1. Must be a Senior on track for graduation.
  2. Points will be awarded in the following manner:
    • Cumulative GPA at the end of 3rd quarter of their senior year multiplied by 10 and add ACT score.
    • One point additional for each “Higher Level” or 3rd Year Advanced Classes (examples: College Classes, Spanish III, Welding III, Concert Choir).
    • One point for CTE Pathway Completion, Extracurricular Leadership Roles, Sterling Scholar school winner and/or Community Service.
  3. Students must submit academic involvement by the end of 3rd quarter.
  4.  The student with the most points will be named Valedictorian for the class and the student with the second greatest amount of points will be our Salutatorian.
  5. The school leadership team reserves the right to modify this procedure as needed and adjustments will be updated in a timely manner.
